Love, Yumi is the first work I have read by Hildred Billings. I downloaded the e-book on a whim, being a huge j-pop fan, especially of idol girl groups, and also because of a raving recommendation from a friend. I am so happy I did. Over the course of reading this novel, I laughed, cried, blushed, smiled, and cried some more, happy and sad tears. While reading, I became attatched to Chiharu and Yumi, seeing them as old friends of mine. They were so full of emotion and heart, their flaws and their strengths raw and relatable.I am very happy that I chose to buy this novel, and I will definitely be reading Billings' other works. I recommend this to anyone who likes realistic fiction with masterfully characterized queer ladies, touching friendships, wonderful writing and blush-inducing lesbian love scenes.

Great. Opened my eyes to many unseen aspects of Japanese society. The truth can really knock the wind out of you so b prepared.
Relatable and engaging, "Love, Yumi" threads as cautiously and delicately as possible through some pretty difficult realities and is a passionate portrait of relationships between women being raw, powerful, physical, spiritual and full of life in all their spheres. Kind of makes you hate and love being one at alternating times. Eerily truthful in regards to the very real and very bad things happening at the idol industry while still being pretty respectful to actual victims.
This piece was deep and the characters are so well developed. It's such a good read. The main character is relatable and everyone is defined; it's a very immersing book.
